Description

BullMach ERA 160 SH Flail Mower

BullMach ERA 160 SH tractor-mounted flail mower is a machine employed for processing and shredding large plant material. Its main feature is the shift performed through an efficient piston, which allows it to work on the most difficult-to-reach areas, guaranteeing the operator safe and comfortable working conditions.

It can be employed for the maintenance of green areas, for cutting wild grass, cleaning lawns and parks, and for soil preparation before sowing or planting. It is an effective tool for maintaining a neat and tidy appearance of green areas.

Another key feature of this flail mower is the presence of a CMR (Costruzioni Meccaniche Reggiane) gearbox, a fundamental component for the operation of the flail mower manufactured in Italy. The CMR gearbox is made of high-quality materials, such as high-strength steel, in order to guarantee the durability and sturdiness required to withstand the load and stresses generated during shredder operation. The CMR gearbox is specially designed to transfer power to the rotating drum of the machine, intended for optimum, quality operation.

It features a first and second category 3-point hitch connection system, specially designed for tractor connection

The 8 mm sheet metal allows the machine to feature a sturdy and durable structure.

The flail mower covers a working width of 160 cm, with an overall width of 178 cm. CMR gearbox entirely made in Italy and 5 belts on the drive structure.

Side belt transmission and geared reducer Made in Italy

The CMR gearbox (made in Italy) is an essential component that transmits power from the tractor engine to the cutting unit of the flail mower itself. It is responsible for adjusting the speed and torque that are transmitted to the cutting unit.

Gearbox in oil bath. The housing is made of cast iron, while the internal gears are made of hardened steel.

This machine is equipped with a freewheel device (or additional joint) built in the gearbox; this ensures a long service life of all the moving parts of the machine, preventing the kickback that would be caused by changing from 540 rpm to 0 rpm and allowing the rotor to turn freely until it stops.

5-belt side transmission (most tractor-mounted flail mowers in this weight category are equipped with standard 3-belt transmission)

Focus on the side belt protection guard.

Focus on the side grease nipple on the transmission side, located at the rear side of the machine for optimum greasing action.

Detail of the gearbox:
1 - Oil level cap
2 - Oil drain cap
3 - SAE 80/90 oil filler cap and vent

ATTENTION!

The gearbox of this machine can contain no more than 1.2L of lubricating oil.

Please carefully read the instructions manual before starting the unit.

Standard 1 3/8” z6 PTO (suitable for all current and recently manufactured tractors): whether you own a particularly old tractor, make sure that it s equipped with the same PTO and with standard clockwise rotation (right-side).

Opening bonnet

A distinctive feature of this flail mower is its rear double adjustable opening.

Not only does it allow the rear exhaust space to be adjusted by means of simple screws, but it also simplifies maintenance by allowing operations in specific areas of the machine.

Doors can be opened or closed by simply using bolts.

Rotor and side bearings

Recommendations for Use - Tractor-mounted Fixed Flail Mowers

To ensure correct operation, a longer service life and safe working conditions, it is essential to use the tractor-mounted flail mower in accordance with the instructions set out in the user manual and the machine’s technical specifications. Incorrect use may result in premature wear of components, reduced performance or damage not covered by the warranty.

Before starting work, always check that the tractor is compatible with the flail mower by verifying the required power, hitch type and intended operating conditions. Correct matching of the machine and the tractor ensures optimum performance and prevents the transmission from being overloaded.

  • Use the flail mower exclusively on suitable surfaces: the machine is designed for grass shredding, wild vegetation, plant residues and materials compatible with the machine’s category. Avoid contact with unintended objects such as stones, metal, plastic or other foreign bodies.
  • Adjust the working height correctly: maintaining an adequate distance from the ground reduces the impact on the cutting units and limits excessive stress on the machine’s structure.
  • Do not operate the machine where there are hidden obstacles or unsuitable ground conditions: ditches, stumps, exposed roots, loose stones or uneven ground can cause sudden impacts and damage to the cutting parts or transmission components.
  • Do not use the flail mower for operations other than shredding: the machine must not be used for earthmoving, ground levelling or other applications not specified by the manufacturer.
  • Always adjust the forward speed to suit the working conditions: excessive speed can reduce the quality of the shredding, increase vibrations and subject the machine to stresses greater than those for which it was designed.
  • Avoid using the machine on excessively damp material: wet grass or particularly damp vegetation can cause material to build up inside the machine, reducing its efficiency.
  • Do not force the tractor forward: if the rotor slows down, vibrations increase or cutting capacity decreases, speed must be reduced and the work adapted to the conditions of the ground and vegetation.
  • Check the condition of the cutting components regularly: worn, damaged or missing blades, hammers or other cutting elements can compromise the machine’s operation and increase vibrations during use.
  • Carry out periodic checks and routine maintenance: check that components are correctly tightened, inspect the condition of the transmission components and ensure the machine is generally clean to maintain its efficiency and safety.

Use of the power take-off (PTO):

The tractor’s power take-off (PTO ) must be used in accordance with the rotational speed specified by the flail mower manufacturer. An incorrect rotational speed may compromise the machine’s operation, causing overheating, accelerated wear or excessive stress on mechanical components.

When attaching and detaching the flail mower, the power take-off must always be disengaged and the tractor switched off. It is also necessary to check that the PTO shaft is correctly installed and has sufficient clearance to move freely while working.
