Cutting tools: toothed hammer flails

No. of toothed hammer flails fitted on standard equipment: 12

Operation with innovative toothed hammers

These are the sturdiest and heaviest hammers on the market (the standard hammer flails on the market weight up to a max. of 1,6 kg).

These toothed hammers that we use are not only considerably sturdier and more powerful than traditional hammer flails, but also allow you to work without any problems ( besides, of course, on grass, straw and other things) even with solid materials, such as wood and a few stones, thanks to its three robust “chisels” that tend to 'break' and cut through more easily. These hammers are mounted on a sturdy, tempered steel bolt with a 20 mm diameter (150mm length) which make it impossible to shear in the event of a collision (the 90% of flail mowers feature hammers with 16mm diameter bolts). The width of the hammer connection is an impressive 90 mm.

Rotor, reinforced hammer flails supports, side bearings

High thickness rotor. This makes it suitable to withstand long years of working operations, keeping its sturdiness against the accidental impacts that may occur.

It is electronically balanced.

Super reinforced hammer flails support brackets: they have a 10 cm welded anchorage to the rotor. It is impossible to unweld them even when strongly hit.

In addition, the rotor is mounted on steel side supports equipped with highly professional spherical barrel roller bearings with double lip sealing rings
Roller bearings are by far the most professional and reliable technology in the field of flail mowers.

High thickness steel double skin frame with double counter-blades row.

The flail mower is equipped with a highly-thick double housing. These two steel plates are in contact and laid one on top of the other, making the machine two times sturdier compared to classic flail mowers with a standard frame. This flail mower is thus truly indestructible even under the most adverse conditions. It withstands stones (not too large), shrubs, brushwood and undergrowth with even large diameter branches without the slightest difficulty.

Nr. 02 rows of counterblades in the underbody. This is without doubt the biggest innovation ever seen on a flail mower. The most extraordinary thing is the trajectory of the 3 chisels with which each hammer is equipped, it enters perfectly into these counter-blades, passing through them. This means that everything that goes inside the shredding apparatus of this machine, i.e. everything that passes underneath it, is literally 'POWDERED'. Suffice it to say that the hammer passes through both counterblade rows more than 30 times per second! Consequently, it has a shredding capacity that is three to four times higher than a conventional flail mower with smooth hammers and without these intersecting rows of counterblades.

At a glance, the result is very impressive, especially in the grinding of grass, branches and pruning residues. On an ordinary flail mower, the hammer, in its rotation, when it hits a branch, simply tends to throw it behind at great speed, dissecting it once or twice at most into two smaller trunks, and in some cases even leaving it intact. Instead, in this machine, it is forced by the hammers into the counterblades, and the result is that it is inevitably chopped up very finely.

Series of rear brush rakes - collecting shafts

Rear pick-up rod set as standard (crampons). These are specifically for shredding prunings or any other crop residue. A very important tool, considering the fact that there isn't a single flail mower on the market really capable of effectively grinding prunings without leaving medium to large fragments. Let us assume that any flail mower is set at a working height above the ground of about 3/4 cm. As a result, the flail tends to leave all branches and debris lying on the ground, as the flail often does not work close enough to the ground to be able to 'claw' them. Furthermore, it should not be underestimated how the tractor wheels tend to crush these residues to the ground or even bury them. The crampons perform a real 'raking' action, extracting from the ground and lifting even those residues buried by the wheels, dragging them along. In this way, no branch or remnant will be able to escape this system. Each hammer moves at a very close distance to a single crampon. So it will pick up the branch lifted by the crampons and take it to the grindstone. It is then passed, as explained above, through the rows of counterblades, resulting in a completely shredded product. At the end of the work, it will be very difficult to find any pruning residue still intact throughout the area subjected to the work of this mulcher!

ASSEMBLY: the crampons should be set at a height that allows them to work close to the ground, placed in a 'free' position. In fact, they must be able to swing vertically, thus adapting to any roughness and unevenness of the ground, thanks to their accentuated inclination towards the rear side.
If the crampon 'stumbles' over some obstacle on the way, e.g. a root or a large stone sticking out of the ground, it can retract by lifting up, thus avoiding bending.

Fixed 3 points linkage

Equipped with a classic fixed three-point hitch.

Focus on the attachments made very close to the camera body, which means they are not very protruding. This allows the flail mower to be positioned very close to the tractor, eliminating the risk of stones being thrown at the Operator, but above all eliminating any problems with lifting the machine, because in this way its weight is very close to the tractor, thus placing a much lower burden on it than other products of the same type. This feature makes possible to also fit the equipment with smaller-sized tractors despite its high weight, making the machine a versatile and easy-to-use product.

Side belt transmission and reduction gearbox group.

original production COMER gearbox in oil bath. The housing is made of cast iron, while the internal gears are made of hardened steel. Equipped with lubricated extension.

3-belt side drive with large-section belt.
Space-saving side belt protection cover: only 10 cm thick. This detail makes this flail mower the one with the absolute smallest footprint on the market, compared to the effective working width. Considering the dimensions of this cover and the support carriage on the opposite side, which protrudes a few CM more than the side of the machine, the overall dimensions of this flail mower are only 14 cm greater than the actual cutting width!!

Focus on the side grease fitting on the transmission side, located in a convenient position, accessible through the dedicated window.

Thanks to the toothed belts, there is an improvement in heat dissipation, allowing more and better transmission of rotary motion.

Rear door flap

This tractor-mounted rough cut mower is provided with a standard rear opening cover mounted on 4 sturdy hinges. The cover can be easily opened simply by removing two bolts. Also equipped with a lifting handle. Extremely convenient for internal maintenance, cleaning, tool replacement operations etc.

Stabilizer accessories - rear roller and side skids

Height-adjustable rear supporting roller with an exceptional diameter of 190 mm. Undoubtedly the largest size in its category.

Focus on the large bearing with cast iron roller fixing plate

Focus on the side steel roller support bracket, with holes for height adjustment.

Focus on the professional roller scraper support adjustable in height by means of adjustment screws

Side support skids as standard

Special side shield styling and other particulars

Special design of the side shape, which, thanks to the retraction, allows it to dodge truncks or obstacles in case of contact, preventing damage to the flail mower or tractor.

Note how even the adjacent support slide is designed as an integral part and continuation of this shaping, without any protruding body (not even a bolt) that could represent a stumbling point.

Robust front protection strips made of moulded steel.
