Description

GeoTech MFM 165 tractor flail mower

The GeoTech-Pro MFM 165 tractor mower is an agricultural equipment designed for shredding light prunings, grass and small shrubs. Due to its medium structure, it is ideal for hobby and semi-professional use. Its compact design and robust construction allow it to be used on a variety of terrains, ensuring high cutting efficiency.

This horizontal-axle tractor-mounted flail mower is equipped with a first-class 3-point hitch, compatible with most small and medium-sized tractors. The 3-belt drive ensures even power transfer and greater wear resistance. The adjustable rear roller allows the cutting height to be adjusted, improving chopping quality and reducing blade wear.

The effective working width of 162 cm allows a large area to be covered in a single pass, increasing productivity. With an overall width of 177 cm, the flail mower maintains a compact design while providing good operational stability. The 282 kg weight ensures solidity and resistance even on uneven ground.

Main features:

  • Medium structure : suitable for hobby and semi-professional work, perfect for prunings, grass and small shrubs.
  • First-class three-point hitch, compatible with most small and medium-sized tractors.
  • 3-belt drive: ensures wear resistance and even power distribution.
  • Adjustable rear roller : improves cutting uniformity and protects the blades.
  • Working width of 162 cm: allows efficient coverage of the ground in every pass.

Hammer and rotor cutting tools

No. of hammers fitted on standard equipment: 26

These hammers are mounted on a sturdy 16 mm diameter hardened steel bolt. (90mm length)

Close-up of the cutting clubs, mounted on the rotor. Thanks to the latter, a good cut is achieved on gardens, lawns and urban areas.

It finely shreds grass and twigs, while simultaneously rolling the turf. Thanks to the high number of rotor revolutions and the number of hammers (hammer flails), it allows reducing the wave impact of the grass cover and performing excellent shredding operations.

Side support with internal rotor attachment bearing to hammers.

Side belt transmission and gearbox

Gearbox in oil bath. The housing is made of cast iron, while the internal gears are made of hardened steel. Equipped with lubricated extension.

This machine is equipped with a freewheel device (or additional joint) built in the gearbox; this ensures a long service life of all the moving parts of the machine, preventing the kickback that would be caused by changing from 540 rpm to 0 rpm and allowing the rotor to turn freely until it stops.

3-belt side transmission (most tractor-mounted mowers in this weight category are equipped with normal 2-belt transmission).

Detail of side belt guard.

Focus on the side grease nipple on the transmission side, laced in a convenient position, accessible through the proper opening.

Detail of the gearbox:
1 - Oil level cap
2 - Oil drain cap
3 - SAE 80/90 oil filler cap and vent

The gearbox of this machine can contain no more than 1L of lubricating oil.

Please carefully read the instructions manual before starting the unit.

Standard 1 3/8” z6 PTO (suitable for all current and recently manufactured tractors): whether you own a particularly old tractor, make sure that it s equipped with the same PTO and with standard clockwise rotation (right-side).

Other features

Height-adjustable rear supporting roller provided on standard equipment.

Focus on the roller fastening bearing.

Focus on the roller support provided with holes for adjusting its height. It is height-adjustable in 6 different positions.Standard

side support skids, also adjustable in 4 different positions.

Support stand for storage.

3-point hitch: first category.

Recommendations for Use - Tractor-mounted Fixed Flail Mowers

To ensure correct operation, a longer service life and safe working conditions, it is essential to use the tractor-mounted flail mower in accordance with the instructions set out in the user manual and the machine’s technical specifications. Incorrect use may result in premature wear of components, reduced performance or damage not covered by the warranty.

Before starting work, always check that the tractor is compatible with the flail mower by verifying the required power, hitch type and intended operating conditions. Correct matching of the machine and the tractor ensures optimum performance and prevents the transmission from being overloaded.

  • Use the flail mower exclusively on suitable surfaces: the machine is designed for grass shredding, wild vegetation, plant residues and materials compatible with the machine’s category. Avoid contact with unintended objects such as stones, metal, plastic or other foreign bodies.
  • Adjust the working height correctly: maintaining an adequate distance from the ground reduces the impact on the cutting units and limits excessive stress on the machine’s structure.
  • Do not operate the machine where there are hidden obstacles or unsuitable ground conditions: ditches, stumps, exposed roots, loose stones or uneven ground can cause sudden impacts and damage to the cutting parts or transmission components.
  • Do not use the flail mower for operations other than shredding: the machine must not be used for earthmoving, ground levelling or other applications not specified by the manufacturer.
  • Always adjust the forward speed to suit the working conditions: excessive speed can reduce the quality of the shredding, increase vibrations and subject the machine to stresses greater than those for which it was designed.
  • Avoid using the machine on excessively damp material: wet grass or particularly damp vegetation can cause material to build up inside the machine, reducing its efficiency.
  • Do not force the tractor forward: if the rotor slows down, vibrations increase or cutting capacity decreases, speed must be reduced and the work adapted to the conditions of the ground and vegetation.
  • Check the condition of the cutting components regularly: worn, damaged or missing blades, hammers or other cutting elements can compromise the machine’s operation and increase vibrations during use.
  • Carry out periodic checks and routine maintenance: check that components are correctly tightened, inspect the condition of the transmission components and ensure the machine is generally clean to maintain its efficiency and safety.

Use of the power take-off (PTO):

The tractor’s power take-off (PTO ) must be used in accordance with the rotational speed specified by the flail mower manufacturer. An incorrect rotational speed may compromise the machine’s operation, causing overheating, accelerated wear or excessive stress on mechanical components.

When attaching and detaching the flail mower, the power take-off must always be disengaged and the tractor switched off. It is also necessary to check that the PTO shaft is correctly installed and has sufficient clearance to move freely while working.
