Description

BullMach Estia 160 Tractor-Mounted Side Arm Flail Mower

The BullMach ESTIA 160 side arm flail mower is a highly-efficient cleaning tool for green maintenance, ditches and hedges.

This side arm flail mower provides a wide range of operation for users who desire high versatility level and customisation in their shredding work.

The ESTIA 160 model provides the highest level of ductility among the other flail mowers available on the market. Its fully hydraulic movement allows both horizontal and vertical movement. The machine's frame is medium-sized and elastic, making it ideal for shredding light prunings, grass and small shrubs.

Its functions include grass cutting, shredding of stalks and prunings, and hedge trimming. It is particularly suitable for working on ditches, riverbanks and sloping terrain.

ESTIA 160 side arm flail mower is equipped with a hydraulic lateral shift, which is controlled by two sturdy pistons mounted on the machine. This system allows easy adjustment of the 3-point hitch's side position, giving the operator greater versatility and ease of use.

Its flexibility, customisation and advanced features make it a reliable tool for a wide range of shredding jobs.

This flail mower is equipped with a CMR gearbox (Costruzioni Meccaniche Reggiane), an extremely important element designed to transfer power to the flail mower's rotating drum.

The CMR gearbox is made of high-quality materials, such as high-strength steel, in order to guarantee the durability and sturdiness required to withstand the load and stresses generated during shredder operation.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS (brief overview):

  • Real working width: 160 cm
  • Total width: 180 cm
  • Weight: 499 kg

ON STANDARD EQUIPMENT:

  • 1° Category 3-point hitch
  • 3-belt drive transmission
  • Rotor with toothed hammers
  • PTO
  • CE compliant safety equipment
  • CMR gearbox

Hydraulic side and vertical shift

The side arm flail mower is equipped with an exceptional hydraulic side and vertical displacement system, which guarantees great versatility and precision while working. This system is controlled by two powerful pistons, which provide the necessary force to move the flail mower.

Thanks to the 4 hoses that are connected to the hydraulic couplings on the tractor, the operator can easily control the movement of the arm flail mower. This hydraulic connection system ensures perfect synchronisation between the chopper and the tractor, allowing smooth and precise operation.

The sturdiness of the displacement system is guaranteed by its structure, consisting of two articulated arms. These arms are designed to handle heavy loads and withstand the stresses incurred while using the flail mower. Furthermore, they are equipped with grease nipples that allow for proper lubrication, ensuring longer system life and reliability.

Thanks to this advanced displacement system, the flail mower can work extremely flexibly. It can reach a vertical inclination of up to 90° upwards, allowing it to tackle difficult soils and overcome obstacles. In addition, it can tilt downwards by up to -40°, allowing accurate shredding even in areas with a significant slope.

Side belt transmission and geared reducer

The CMR gearbox (made in Italy) is an essential component that transmits power from the tractor engine to the cutting unit of the flail mower itself. It is responsible for adjusting the speed and torque that are transmitted to the cutting unit.

Gearbox in oil bath.. The housing is made of cast iron, while the internal gears are made of hardened steel.

This machine is equipped with a freewheel device (or additional joint) built in the gearbox; this ensures a long service life of all the moving parts of the machine, preventing the kickback that would be caused by changing from 540 rpm to 0 rpm and allowing the rotor to turn freely until it stops.

Lateral 3-belt drive with tension adjustment system by means of a practical screw system.

Focus on the side belt protective cover, equipped with several ventilation openings (for regular cooling).

There are 4 slots which allow optimum operation of the belts in parallel.

Focus on the side grease nipple on the transmission side, located at the rear of the machine, which allows optimum greasing action.

Detail of the gearbox:
1 - Oil level cap
2 - Oil drain cap
3 - SAE 80/90 oil filler cap and vent

ATTENTION!

The gearbox of this machine can contain no more than 1.2L of lubricating oil.

Please carefully read the instructions manual before starting the unit.

Standard 1 3/8” z6 PTO (suitable for all current and recently manufactured tractors): whether you own a particularly old tractor, make sure that it s equipped with the same PTO and with standard clockwise rotation (right-side).

Recommendations for Use - Tractor-mounted Fixed Flail Mowers

To ensure correct operation, a longer service life and safe working conditions, it is essential to use the tractor-mounted flail mower in accordance with the instructions set out in the user manual and the machine’s technical specifications. Incorrect use may result in premature wear of components, reduced performance or damage not covered by the warranty.

Before starting work, always check that the tractor is compatible with the flail mower by verifying the required power, hitch type and intended operating conditions. Correct matching of the machine and the tractor ensures optimum performance and prevents the transmission from being overloaded.

  • Use the flail mower exclusively on suitable surfaces: the machine is designed for grass shredding, wild vegetation, plant residues and materials compatible with the machine’s category. Avoid contact with unintended objects such as stones, metal, plastic or other foreign bodies.
  • Adjust the working height correctly: maintaining an adequate distance from the ground reduces the impact on the cutting units and limits excessive stress on the machine’s structure.
  • Do not operate the machine where there are hidden obstacles or unsuitable ground conditions: ditches, stumps, exposed roots, loose stones or uneven ground can cause sudden impacts and damage to the cutting parts or transmission components.
  • Do not use the flail mower for operations other than shredding: the machine must not be used for earthmoving, ground levelling or other applications not specified by the manufacturer.
  • Always adjust the forward speed to suit the working conditions: excessive speed can reduce the quality of the shredding, increase vibrations and subject the machine to stresses greater than those for which it was designed.
  • Avoid using the machine on excessively damp material: wet grass or particularly damp vegetation can cause material to build up inside the machine, reducing its efficiency.
  • Do not force the tractor forward: if the rotor slows down, vibrations increase or cutting capacity decreases, speed must be reduced and the work adapted to the conditions of the ground and vegetation.
  • Check the condition of the cutting components regularly: worn, damaged or missing blades, hammers or other cutting elements can compromise the machine’s operation and increase vibrations during use.
  • Carry out periodic checks and routine maintenance: check that components are correctly tightened, inspect the condition of the transmission components and ensure the machine is generally clean to maintain its efficiency and safety.

Use of the power take-off (PTO):

The tractor’s power take-off (PTO ) must be used in accordance with the rotational speed specified by the flail mower manufacturer. An incorrect rotational speed may compromise the machine’s operation, causing overheating, accelerated wear or excessive stress on mechanical components.

When attaching and detaching the flail mower, the power take-off must always be disengaged and the tractor switched off. It is also necessary to check that the PTO shaft is correctly installed and has sufficient clearance to move freely while working.
