The hydrostatic transmission is a modern and functional type of transmission, increasingly popular in garden tractors.

Its operation is very simple: to move forward, just press the pedal with the tip of your foot. The tractor will move forward based on the pressure applied. To engage reverse, simply press the other end of the pedal with your heel.

Releasing your foot from the pedal will stop the tractor.

This transmission is increasingly used and sought after by users, thanks to its practicality compared to manual transmission. The latter, in fact, requires the operator to stop every time they want to change speed, to engage the gear, release the clutch, and restart.

The hydrostatic transmission, on the other hand, allows for immediate speed variations without ever stopping, making it perfect for large areas where obstacles or trees need to be navigated around.

The engine mounted on the AT4 98 HWA tractor is an ST 550 TWIN, ideal for high and versatile performance.

A twin-cylinder engine, 586 cc displacement, 4-stroke petrol engine of the latest generation with overhead valve "OHV".

This is a professional-grade engine with high reliability and durability. One of the most famous engines in the world, both in the field of tractors and in the gardening and agriculture sector in general.

It develops a power of 10.4 kW, allowing the machine to cover large areas in a very short time, as well as powering the large rear wheels and cutting blades.

It has a petrol tank capacity of up to 6 litres.

At maximum power, it reaches 2600 rpm and is air-cooled.

The most correct term would be "Commercial" Power, meaning the classic standard definition of power officially used until a few years ago by all the most renowned engine manufacturers.

1- COLLECTION WITH 240L BAG (standard):

The grass is collected inside the collection bag, one of the most widespread methods. The bag emptying system is very simple: It is done by grabbing the appropriate handle. You can then empty the bag at the desired point without any effort.

Equipped with an acoustic signal that alerts the operator when the bag is full.

2- MULCHING (standard):

The grass is finely chopped inside the cutting deck and then released directly onto the lawn. With this method, the grass will be so fine that it will seem as if it has been collected, giving a truly satisfying aesthetic appearance. Moreover, with this method, the decomposing grass will become a nutrient for the lawn itself.

It is useful to remember that, to ensure the absolute efficiency of the system, the lawn must still be watered, and the grass cut very often.

Conversion: remove the collection bag and insert the mulching plug into the central tunnel.

The cutting deck of the tractor features two steel blades, for a width of 98 cm.

The deck is floating, meaning it adapts to ground imperfections, as long as they are not excessive, for an impeccable cut on any occasion.

The blade engagement is electromagnetic, and is activated via the yellow button on the control block. This system allows for a quick and immediate blade engagement.

There are 7 different cutting positions available, ranging from 25 to 80 mm. The adjustment is made via a side lever, located near the tractor seat.

Two anti-scalp wheels are also applied, for better ground adherence.

The ride-on lawn mower is designed and intended exclusively for cutting grass in gardens and parks (and not on other types of terrain). The working surface must be level, free of irregularities, stones, or other solid objects, and covered with maintained lawn grass (not uncultivated or spontaneous vegetation). Grass should be cut regularly and must not be allowed to grow beyond 25–30 cm, as most ride-on mowers are no longer capable of cutting at this height. Slopes exceeding 15% (equivalent to 9°) must be avoided, except when using 4x4 models.

Grass must only be cut when both the lawn and the underlying soil are completely dry. Mowing operations should be carried out exclusively in dry weather, well away from periods of rain or irrigation, and preferably in the afternoon, when the grass is no longer affected by morning humidity. Wet grass tends to bend under the blades, reducing cutting efficiency, increasing the risk of clogging inside the deck, and subjecting both the engine and the transmission belt to excessive strain, which may result in damage.
