The Intex 26680 sand filter with salt chlorine generator is one of the best products available for filtering above-ground pools, with an excellent price-performance ratio.
Filter is equipped with a 6-function control valve: filtering, backwashing, rinsing, recirculating, draining and closing function.
The Intex sand filter needs quartz sand in order to operate. The sand, if properly washed, it can last about 5 years before replacement. The recommended type of sand is ground quartz with a 99% silicon concentration and a grain size of 0.4 to 0.8 mm.
The innovative Krystal Clear Saltwater system used by this chlorine generator combines a new and unique two-stage technology to sanitise pool water. The first stage produces a slight amount of chlorine not harmful to bathers, obtained natural salt is added to the pool water. The result is a clearer and more crystalline water.
The second stage is achieved through the E.C.O. process. (electro-catalytic oxidation) to achieve a sanitising substance able to reduce contaminating organisms such as bacteria and algae. The combination of these oxidants and natural chlorine leads to more effective and health-safe sterilisation of the pool (skin and eye sensitivity). This last stage is so effective that it reduces chlorine presence by about 60%.
