The RYOBI OLM1833B battery-powered lawn mower is a compact machine designed for mowing small surfaces. Its lightweight construction, featuring a plastic chassis and wheels of different sizes, makes it easy to manoeuvre even in tight spaces.

It is ideal for maintaining domestic gardens of up to approximately 150 m², even where there are narrow paths or uneven edges. It is intended for domestic use, suitable for those who need equipment that is easy to manoeuvre and store away after use.

The Ryobi OLM1833B cordless lawn mower operates via an 18V battery-powered motor that drives a rotating blade positioned beneath the housing. As the mower is pushed forward, the blade cuts the grass, which is either collected in the rear grass collector or shredded via the mulching plug and redistributed onto the ground. The side combs channel the grass into the blade even close to edges, reducing the need for manual trimming along walls and fences.

The 18V lithium-ion battery can be recharged at any time (like modern smartphone batteries, it has no memory effect) so it is always ready for use. It lasts on average three times longer than a standard battery. The battery is equipped with a convenient charge indicator and an activation button to prevent the tool from being switched on accidentally.

The mower is a traditional 2-in-1 model, with rear discharge, grass collection in the grass box and mulching.

GRASS COLLECTION:

This allows grass to be collected in the dedicated 35-litre grass collector. This grass collector is designed to be easily removed and emptied, improving efficiency and convenience during use. The grass collector’s large capacity reduces downtime, making the entire lawn mowing process quicker and less tiring.

MULCHING:

Instant conversion: simply remove the grass collector,insert the supplied mulching plug and lower the rear deflector to activate the mulching system.

WHAT IS MULCHING:
a cutting system that allows the grass clippings to be shredded and then released back onto the lawn, so finely mulched that they appear as if they had been collected. This eliminates the problem of disposal, reducing effort and mowing time. The grass decomposes and will subsequently turn into nutrients for the lawn and into water (grass is 80% water), ensuring a perfectly balanced biological cycle. However, it is important to remember that, to ensure the system works as efficiently as possible, the lawn should still be watered, and the grass should be cut at least once a week.

Centralised cutting height adjustment: a single lever adjusts all four wheels simultaneously.

This model allows you to choose from five different height settings, ranging from a minimum of 25 mm to a maximum of 65 mm. Adjustment is quick and easy, thanks to a single lever that controls all four wheels simultaneously.

Centralised cutting height adjustment not only improves cutting quality but also simplifies the use of the lawn mower. With a single operation, you can change the height of all the wheels, avoiding the need to adjust each wheel individually.

LONGER LIFE: up to three times longer than traditional nickel-cadmium batteries, reducing the need for recharging during prolonged periods of use.

FULL CHARGE THROUGHOUT THE BATTERY’S LIFE: the charge in lithium-ion batteries does not diminish. Unlike nickel-cadmium batteries, whose power gradually decreases, lithium battery cells maintain constant power throughout the entire cycle. You get virtually the same charge from start to finish, without any reduction in engine speed. The battery operates at full
power until it is completely depleted.

LONG CHARGE LIFE: lithium batteries boast 3-4 times more recharge cycles than traditional nickel-cadmium batteries, while also offering longer storage times with
less charge loss. With lithium batteries, you can achieve up to 2,000 charge cycles.

LOWER WEIGHT: lithium batteries offer the best power-to-weight ratio. On average, they weigh one-third of nickel-cadmium batteries.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY: lithium-ion battery-powered tools are recyclable and are manufactured without heavy metals.

NO MEMORY EFFECT: lithium batteries can be recharged at any time without any negative memory effect: they continue to deliver maximum power even after hundreds of charge cycles.

The actual cutting area may be significantly lower than the value stated by the manufacturer, which is calculated based on standard operating conditions of dry grass of medium to low height. In the presence of tall or wild grass, grass that has not been mowed to a short length, damp grass or particularly dense grass, the workload increases and the motor requires more absorption of power, resulting in a reduction in the batteries’ actual running time.

However, the manufacturer’s stated value is fully reliable under favourable cutting conditions, namely on a regularly maintained lawn with dry grass that is not excessively tall or wild, which correspond to the standard conditions used in laboratory tests.

If mowing is carried out regularly on a thin layer of grass that is well-maintained, preferably in the afternoon when the turf is virtually free of moisture, performance may be in line with the stated figures and, in some cases, even exceed the manufacturer’s specifications.

The cutting system also affects energy consumption: collection and mulching require greater blade thrust than simple discharge. The condition of the blade has a further impact: a blunt blade increases friction and reduces the number of metres that can actually be mowed on a single charge.

Other factors depend on the terrain. Slopes and uneven ground require higher torque, and engaging the traction drive (if available) results in continuous absorption of power, significantly reducing the actual working time. Sub-optimal temperatures, battery-powered age and repeated sequences of restarting or tight manoeuvres further reduce the available runtime.

Under sub-optimal operating conditions, the difference between the stated area and the area that can actually be mowed is therefore due to the increased load placed on the motor, the blade and the drive system.
