Description

GeoTech PCS 50 L Shredder

The Geotech PC S50 L roller shredder, in addition to its main pressing and crushing mechanism, also integrates two cutting blades. These blades are used to ensure that vegetable waste, especially the most fibrous and resistant, is effectively reduced into smaller pieces. While the material is introduced into the machine through a hopper located at the top, the blades begin their cutting work, preparing the waste for the next crushing step through the roller.

This combined cutting and crushing mechanism ensures that the shredder is effective on a wide range of materials, from the hardest and driest branches to the wettest leaves and green materials. The inclusion of cutting blades not only increases the overall efficiency of the machine, but also helps to reduce the risk of clogging, especially when dealing with larger or knotty branches.

The Geotech PCS50L roller shredder is ideal for those looking for an efficient and quiet solution, especially if the majority of the waste to be treated is composed of green or slightly woody material.

Major strengths of this machine:

  • Sturdiness thanks to the system with steel rotor.
  • Cutting diameter (it allows easily shredding up to 65 mm diameter branches, while standard shredders featuring the same power can cut branches up to max. 50/60 mm) - However, large-diameter branches with more than 50 mm diameter have to be entered in the hopper slowly.
  • Exceptional working capacity, it can carry out intense and demanding operations even when constantly grinding large diameter wood.
  • High hourly output, over the standard petrol wood chippers consisting of rotor with blades and hammers (it can reach 2.5/4 mc/h).

Limitations: the final size of the wood chips is larger than average due to the lack of centrifugal hammers. These shredders are specifically for chipping medium and large diameter branches (subject to the maximum cutting diameter indicated on each model), not suitable for leaves and small green material, and not very suitable for small diameter branches.

Warning: Like all wood chippers and garden shredders, it is not suited for shredding grass, leaves, pine needles, etc. (it is intended to shred branches, but it can also grind leaves, needles and others)

Garden shredders intended use:
- The wood chipper must grind only green branches and not dried ones (which would limit its shredding capacity and lead to quick deterioration of the blades);
- The branches must be preferably long, smooth and not knobby (otherwise the cutting diameter would be reduced);
- The branch cutting diameter indicated is the maximum, so it is advised not to shred larger branches. In this case it would be better to purchase a shredder with a larger branch cutting diameter;
- The cutting diameter can vary according to the amounts of wood (e.g: oak, olive, plum and peach are hardwood and can reduce the cutting capacity of the wood chipper)

Loncin G200FA 4-stroke engine

Loncin original latest 4-stroke petrol engine with 196 cc capacity it has been designed with the ”OHV” overhead valve technology.

This latest generation model with overhead valve technology is suitable for work where moderate power is required.

Major strengths compared to the standard 2-stroke engines (still very popular on motor-powered sprayer pumps):

  • Greater reliability
  • Easier start, especially after long periods of storage
  • Longer life, fewer problems with fuel preparation and freshness
  • Lower energy consumption
  • More silent

Features:

  • Engine type: 4-Stroke - OHV - single cylinder
  • Cylinder capacity: 196 cm³
  • Power: 4,1 KW/ 5.5 Hp

Nominal Power: 6.5 HP

The correct term would be "Commercial” Power, meaning the standard definition used until a few years ago by all well-known engine manufacturers.* + This technical feature is the one indicated in the main sales channels, even if it is higher than the real power of the engine.
Rated power: 5.5 HP
Corresponds to the actual power expressed at the crankshaft. This is the power indicated as official in the engine instructions manual. * This technical feature may vary from an engine model to another according to the rotation speed provided by the manufacturer.

Unified hopper

The innovative PCS50L shredder features a unified hopper that makes work much easier and faster. Unlike traditional shredders, which require a division of the material between large and woody branches and small and green ones, by inserting them in two separate hoppers, this model with a single hopper eliminates that need.

After introducing the branches into the hopper, the machine has a self-feeding function, which means that it tends to attract and process the material on its own, without the need for further manual intervention.

In addition, it has been equipped with a very effective safety device. At any time, if an emergency situation arises, just press a key to immediately stop the machine, ensuring safety and protection

Shredding system with 2 blades and counter-blade

Large and highly-thick 2 shredding blades mounted on a steel spinning rotor.

The dual blade system also includes a counter-blade placed in the shredding chamber.

This ensures high-quality wood chips with an hourly output varying from 2.5 to 4 mc/h.

Focus on the counter-blade adjustment: the counter-blade is tilted with respect to the frame and rotor rotation direction for increasing the wood chipper shredding capacity and performance.

Chipping capacity: 50 mm

All roller shredders like this one allow high performance by entering leafless and cleaned branches (not thick and with too twigs);
they are ideal for quite large branches and not for many thin or green branches featuring many twigs; this is because the roller system is technically unsuitable for grinding small diameters branches, or green material in general, while they really give their best with larger branches.
This is due to their less "centrifugal" power compared to standard disc and blade models, and to the "greater distance between blade and counter-blade", designed for single branches that are already well cleaned but with a large diameter.

Main features

Adjustable exhaust port located approximately 1.2 metres from the ground, equipped with a deflector with adjustable inclination.

The front support stand is very large and provides stability to the machine. This allows distributing the weight over a greater surface area, thus preventing the garden shredder sinking into soft grounds.

The GeoTech PCS 50 L shredder is equipped with dual grip to facilitate moving operations.

The wood chipper is also provided with 2 large pneumatic wheels 4.10/3.5-4 that ensure easy transport.

Recommendations for use - Petrol Wood Chippers

Recommendations for use

To ensure the maximum efficiency and durability of the wood chipper,  the instructions below must be strictly followed. Failure to do so constitutes improper use and carries a serious risk of damage to the product (such damage is not covered by the warranty).

  • DO NOT use the wood chipper to shred:
  1. Pine needles
  2. Grass or piles of leaves
  3. Wet garden waste
  4. Whole pallets or parts thereof
  5. Construction waste
  6. Wood and/or roots covered in soil or stones.

These materials, which lack a woody texture, tend to form a paste that blocks the shredding chamber and the discharge chute, overloading the engine. However, branches with leaves may be fed into the machine, provided they are preferably straight in shape.

  • DO NOT feed in pallets or construction waste: ensure that the material contains no nails, screws, iron wire or concrete debris. Impact with foreign objects will irreparably damage the cutting rotor and may result in the violent ejection of metal fragments.
  • DO NOT shred wood and/or roots covered in soil: the abrasive action of soil and sand on the cutting blades at high speed causes immediate wear. The cutting blade loses its sharpness within minutes, making extraordinary maintenance necessary. Furthermore, the likely presence of stones, even small ones, would inevitably damage the wood chipper.
  • Pay attention to wood freshness: the specified maximum cutting diameter refers to ‘green’ wood, i.e. fresh branches recently cut from the tree (which is the ideal time to process them in the wood chipper) and of medium consistency. For very hard types of wood (e.g. oak, olive, plum, peach), the wood chipper’s actual cutting capacity may decrease proportionally to the hardness of the wood. Furthermore, the declared maximum cutting diameter should be considered as an exception  during use and not the standard operating conditions, as it would mean operating the wood chipper continuously at the limits of its capabilities.
  • DO NOT shred dry or seasoned wood (e.g. old posts, beams, sticks): the wood chipper is designed to process freshly cut branches. Dry wood is significantly harder than fresh wood and can damage the cutting blades by creating nicks or causing them to lose their sharpness quickly, as well as placing severe strain on the transmission mechanism.
  • DO NOT feed material in when the engine is off or running at low revs: start the wood chipper and always bring it up to full speed before feeding in the material. Similarly, never switch off the engine while there is still material inside the cutting chamber.
  • DO NOT FORCE THE FEED: the wood chipper must pull the material in automatically (self-feeding). If the branch does not advance, the blades may be worn or the branch may be too knotty. Forcing material into the hopper could cause the cutting rotor to jam and result in serious damage to the transmission.
  • DO NOT operate the wood chipper with worn or damaged blades: under these conditions, shredding occurs by ‘impact’ rather than by ‘cutting’. The resulting strong vibrations and stresses can cause serious structural damage to all components of the wood chipper.
  • Fuel storage:
  1. Use approved tanks
  2. Check that metal tanks are clean and free from corrosion
  3. Store fuel in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  4. Use the petrol within 30–60 days
  5. If necessary, use a stabiliser to extend its shelf life

If the machine is to be left unused for a prolonged period, empty the fuel tank or use fuel containing a stabiliser additive.
